At Unearthed, I offer bespoke ancestry research services, providing tailored packages to help you uncover your roots and build a family tree that’s unique to you.

With three years of experience in genealogy, combined with over 20 years in data insights and creativity, I’ve developed a unique approach to family history research. My background in data analysis allows me to meticulously piece together historical records, while my creative expertise helps bring your family story to life in a compelling and visually engaging way. Every family has a fascinating story waiting to be discovered, and I’m here to help you uncover it.

That’s why I’ve created Unearthed—an accessible way for anyone to start exploring their family history. We offer affordable and in-depth research services starting at just £275, with options going up to £1700. Whether you’re just beginning your genealogy journey or you’re ready to dive deeper into your heritage, there’s a package that fits your needs and budget.

One feature I’m really proud of is our flexible payment plan. I know that embarking on a genealogy journey can be exciting, but also a bit overwhelming, especially when it comes to cost. That’s why I’ve made it easy to pay in instalments, so you can track the progress of your family history research without any financial strain.

For those who want to dip their toes into the world of genealogy, I offer a starter package called 'Roots Explorer' for just £275. With this, I’ll trace one surname back to your great-great-great grandparents—perfect for getting a taste of what it’s like to explore your ancestry.

Aside from our research services, I’ve also launched a blog where I share intriguing historic mystery stories. These stories reflect not only my passion for genealogy but also my goal to bring the fascinating world of family histories to life. Whether you’re hoping to find long-lost relatives, learn more about your cultural background, or simply fill in the gaps in your family puzzle, I’m here to help you every step of the way.

At Unearthed, I believe in making the process of exploring your family history both simple and engaging. Once you fill out our quick form with details about your family, I will start tracing your family tree. Throughout the process, you’ll receive regular updates so you can stay informed about the progress.

When your family history project is finished, you’ll receive a detailed report of all our findings, along with a one-of-a-kind family tree to treasure forever. If you're looking for more personalised help, I also offer hourly consultations to guide you through any specific questions you might have.

If you're planning to gift a family history project, please keep in mind that expert research takes time. It’s best to allow at least four months for delivery to ensure everything is done right. In the meantime, why not consider a gift voucher? It’s a wonderful way to give the promise of discovery while you wait.
I’m so excited to help you uncover the mysteries of your past and share in the joy of discovering your family’s story. So, if you’re ready to start your journey of exploration, let’s get started today. I can’t wait to help you bring your family history to life!

FAQs

How Your Money is Spent...
The breakdown of how funds are allocated throughout the project, based on the basic package without any upgrades:
-
Research and Report Writing: The largest portion of spending goes here.
-
Document Acquisition: This includes necessary documents for the research.
-
Presentation and Administrative Costs: Covers expenses related to access to resource databases on your behalf.
What's Not Included in the Price
-
Research Limitations: Research does not extend beyond the year 1950-to date.
-
Living Relatives: Due to GDPR implementation, however we can include the following living individuals on your or the gift recipient's family tree:
-
Parents
-
Siblings (but not their spouses or descendants)
-
Blood-related Aunts and Uncles (but not their spouses or descendants)
-
Grandparents
-
Blood-related Great Aunts and Uncles (but not their spouses or descendants)
-
What Does "One Surname" Mean?
Your family history can be explored through surnames. For example:
-
2 Parents: 2 surnames
-
4 Grandparents: 4 surnames
-
8 Great-Grandparents: 8 surnames
-
16 Great-Great-Grandparents: 16 surnames
For example, Unearthed’s family history research package ROOTS EXPLORED focuses on one specific surname. It aims to trace the lineage of the gift recipient's paternal line—starting with their father, then their grandfather, and so on—back to approximately 1800-1820, when possible.
What Information Do I Need if I Am Buying for a Gift Recipient?
To initiate the family history research for a gift recipient, you will need to provide the following information:
-
Full Name: The gift recipient's complete name.
-
Date and Place of Birth: This helps establish their identity.
-
Father's Full Name: Including any relevant details.
-
Mother's Full Name: This should include the mother's maiden name.
For a richer family history, it is beneficial to supply the full names of the grandparents as well. The more information you can provide about living relatives, the more effectively we can utilise the budget to uncover additional ancestors yet to be discovered.
How Long Does It Take?
On average, our research process takes a minimum of 3-4 months from the time we receive all necessary information from you. Please note that this timeframe excludes Bank Holidays and seasonal holidays such as Christmas or Easter, so we recommend allowing for additional time during those periods.
Factors that may influence the duration include:
-
Unique Family Histories: No two families are the same, which can affect research timelines.
-
Unpredictability of Historical Research: The path of research is often uncertain; we cannot predict in advance how straightforward or complex it will be.
-
Thoroughness of Research: To maintain a high standard, our genealogists require ample time to sift through necessary records, navigate hurdles, and accurately identify ancestors. We adhere to the Genealogical Proof Standard, which demands a significant commitment.
Given these considerations, the 3-4 month timeframe is an estimate, not a guarantee.
